Our Heritage

1939

Tan Seng Toh opened his first store on North Bridge Road with a modest display of jade and gold, after arriving from Guangdong, China.

1942

The company expanded to include fine gems and more gold ornaments, rebranding as Poh Seng Goldsmith. 'Poh' symbolises precious value, while 'Seng' represents success, reflecting the family's commitment to hard work, quality, and customer value.

1951

As the diversity in its products increases, Poh Seng Goldsmith moves to 225 South Bridge Road, establishing its presence in the goldsmith community in Chinatown and serving customers from all walks of life.

1975

As the second generation takes the helm, Poh Seng Jewellers Pte Ltd is incorporated, solidifying the company's reputation as a leading jeweller renowned for exquisite gems in addition to gold.

1995

With the vision of the family's second and third generations, the company relocated to a more prominent address at 227/229 New Bridge Road, establishing its home in the heart of Singapore's Chinatown.

2010

Recognised by the Singapore Tourism Board as a 'Heritage Brand', Poh Seng joins an elite group of long-standing businesses honoured with this prestigious title.

2015

Honoured with the CaseTrust-Singapore Jewellers Association (SJA) Accreditation for excellence in the jewellery business.

2024

Today, this family-run heritage brand continues its tradition of bringing exquisite pieces amongst Singapore's esteemed jewellers.
